CARTERTON.

| Mr R. V. King, of Carterton, who lias for a considerable period coached the Kia Toa Ladies' Hockey Club, which has an unbroken championship record for the period of its existence i —six years— was farewelled at a social gathering on Tuesday evening, at i Greytown. Geivn.j regret was expressed at Mr King's approaching departure for New Plymouth, and during the evening he was the recipient of a handsome silver mounted oak salad bowl. Mr D. P. Loasby, Mayor of Greytown, made the presentation on behalf of the Club. At a sitting of the Magistrate:; Court here yesterday, a number of debt cases were dealt witn. For using misleading initials in connection with his occupation, without being entitled' to such qualification, T. G. Lennox was fined £5, and convicted and discharged on a second charge, on -condition that lie took out a prohibition order against himself. W. J. Bannin proceeded against F. Barry on a charge of assault, the ease being dismissed after hearing evidence. The Carterton troop of Boy Scouts have arranged to have a day in tiie country on Easter Moiiday. A Waihakeke settler is installing a corrugated iron tank with a holding capacity of 1300 gallons, on his property. It was manufactured by Mr A. J. Parton, a local plumber.
