AN OFFICIAL OPENING.
FURTHER NEW ZEALAND SUC-

SYDNEY, April 12
The Earl of Dudley, Governor-Gen-eral, officially opened tlio Royal Show to-day. There was a large gathering of the public. Speaking at an- official banquet, Lord Dudley declared that he would go Home firmly convinced of the splendid future in store for the people of Australia, and their ability to work out the destiny before them. Lord Chelmsford, referring to the run of splendid seasons, warned the farmers to prepare for the drought, which would inevitably come.
Messrs Mitchell and O'Brien's "Pansy" was first and champion in heavy Clydesdale mares. The same owners' New Zealand-bred "Flower's Fancy" was awarded reserve chamr pionship. while Mr Taylor's New Zea-land-bred "Royal Alexander" secured first in the three years stallion class.
Jn the active class, Caffrey and Murphy carried off the honours in three year stallion, with a New Zea-Innd-bred animal. The same owners' New Zealand-bred "Brilliant Boy" topped the list in the shire stallion class.
