DISTRICT NEWS.
(From Our Own Corresi>otidoin>. * KAIPARORO. Several good showers of rain fell during the week, the total amount of rainfall being a little over half an inch. Pastures are looking considerably refreshed, though more rain is needed to have a permanent effect.
Last week a farewell social was tendered to Mr P. Fauvel, who lias been a resident of the district for the past twenty years. The hall was crowded with visitors, many of whom ■came from long distances. A very enjoyable dune? was held, and during an interval, Mr Falkner, on behalf of those present, presented Mr Fauvel with a handsome travelling rug. It is Mr Fauvel's intention to re-visit his native home, in Jersey shortly. The many friends ofMrs Herbert Renall will regret to hear that r.he is at present somewhat seriously indisposed.
