MAGISTRATE'S COURT RETURNS.

i FOR THE PAST QUARTER. At tlae Masteitton Magistrate's Court during the quarter ended March 31st, 191., 60 persons were apprehended and! .summoned, of whom 57 were males, as against 72 during the corresponding period of last year. The total amount of criminal fees and fines paid was £lB 19s. For 1910 the fees collected amounted to £45 9s. One male and one female were committed to a lunatic asylum. There were seven charges of drunkenness, all of which were males. Breaches of the Borough by-laws numbered seven. Three cases were heard Tinder the Destitute Persons Act, and four under the Industrial Schools Act, for failing 'to maintain wives and children.' Six Natives were charged with failing to destroy rabbits. There were only two charges for obscene language, one of which was dismissed, and there were two convictions for assault. Eiglit breaches of the Licensing Act , were heard, three of which were dismissed. There was also one charge against a male of bastardy.
