IS IT A SALMON?

A CASTLEPOINT CATCH. The Tinui correspondent of the Wairarapa Age writes"While fishing at Castlepoint last week, Dr McRae landed a salmon ten pounds in weight. This -species of fish is said, to be unknown in New Zealand waters. Dr Mcßae has had many years' experience of fishing on the Coast of Scotland, and is not likely to have made a mistake." There are several kinds of salmon—the. salmosalar, or English salmon ; the salmofjuinnat, or Californian salmon ; the salmo-trutta, or salmon-trout. The probability is that the fish caught is one of tho latter species, as they have previously been caught in New Zealand waters.
