WARNING TO WELLINGTON.
AUCKLAND, Last Night. ! Dr Malcolm McLaren, the wellknown geologist, in an interview today, remarked that the warning he gave in Wellington four years ago regarding the need to make buildings erected in that city earthquake proof has been disregarded. He said that to continue building in defiance of the well-known principle governing the construction' of■ earthquake proof buildings is criminal, arid there would be a terrible calamity should there be an extra severe' earthquake in Wellington a^-any time. If such an earthquake were to come in wet wca- j ther it would be doubly appalling, as, j with hills oir all sides, serious land-! slips must occur.
