Tlie Secretary of the Mastertor, Technical School has heen instructed to communicate with the Education .Department stating that the managers proposed sarting classes for chemistry and electricity, and asking the Department to assist them in supplying the requisite equipment. Jickell, borough engineer of Palmerston North, against the Manawatu Daily Times, claiming £3OO damages for alleged libel, sakl to be contained in the report of an address delivered on borough matters by Mr J: Robertson, one of the candidates for a seat on the Council. Mr P. H. Cooke issued the writ on behalf of Mr Jickell. It is expected that the judgment of the Court of Appeal in the case Thomas 'Kennedy Macdonald v. Mary Rose Janet Mackay Rose. Ellen R. Greenfield, and John Greenfield, will be given in i,he first week after the Easter vacation. The vacation terminates on April 23rd.

A defendant in a, judgment summons case at the Magistrate's Court at Dunedin, had an excuse for nonappearance than which there could be none mora potent, unless accident or death. He had just been placed in gaol for default of payment on a similar summons.
