HOCKEY.
A large number of hockey enthusiasts assembled for practice on the Lansdowne grounds yesterday. Several scratch matches were played, and all proved fast and exciting. St. Matthew's A drew with Post and Telegraph, each scoring two goals. St. Matthew's B defeated Excelsior B by three goals to 2. .Several other teams played, but no scores were taken. The Huia and Rambler ladies' clubs also in practice.
