WAIRARAPA HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

ORDINARY MEETING. '

The ordinary meeting of the War- j rarapa Hospital and Charitable Aid ( Board was held in Masterton at noon j yesterday, there being present -.Messrs E. G. Eton (chairman), W. Fislier, A. \ J. Speedy, R. J. Welch, H. Morrison, 1 W. Moore, G. F. Bennett, R. Beetham, 1). J. Cameron, S. Bolton, A. McLeod, F. W. Kunimer, J. C. Ewington and W. W. McCardle. The chairman welcomed Mr McCardle, who had [ been appointed to succeed Mr Crewe i as a representative for Paliiatua.

An apology was received from Mr Murry J. H. Jackson. Messrs Drew and Webster, secretaries of the Pahiatua and Grey town Hospital Committees, respectively, were present.

The statement of receipts and expenditure for the year ending March 31st was presented. This showed the, receipts to have been £8279, including contributions from local bodies £3168. and Goyerment subsidy £3023 9s Sd. Tlie expenditure had amounted, in the aggregate, to £9O9G 6s 6d. This included a sum of £4752 5s lid for the respective hospitals, £3094 16s in respect of the Wairarapa South Hospital Building Fund. | and £lOl2 10s 7d, for charitable aid, etc. The Chairman stated that the expenditure for the year had been heavier than usual.—The statement was adopted. A letter was read from the Education Department, drawing attention to sections 11 and 12 of the Education Act, 1910, in reference to the training of youthful degenerates.—The communication was received. A communication was received from the Wellington Board and Old Men's Homo in reference to the maintenance of a Hast well old man. The Chairman stated that the treatment in this case showed the necessity for a Home for Incurables in the Wairarapa. The Valuer-General supplied the appointment of capital values in the : Board district. Correspondence was received in reference to a Mauriceviile patient who Is at present in the Waikato Sanatorium. The Greytown Trust Lands Trustees wrote, agreeing to exchange a section adjoining the Greytown Hospital for a section in Kuratawhiti Street, on condition that the Board pay the cost of transfer.—Mr Webster, secretary of the Greytown Committee, stated that an Empowering Bill would be required ,to enable the transfer to be made.— On the motion of the chairman, seconded by -Mr Fisher, it was decided that the Greytown Committee be empowered to make the exchange, by Empowering Bill, or otherwise. Tlie report of the meeting of the Finance Committee (already published in the Age) was read.—The report was received. Mother Mary Joseph Aubert, of Wellington; wrote acknowledging the receipt of a donation of £24 "towards the funds of her Home. The report of the sub-committee in reference to the proposed Home for Incurables at Greytown was read and approved. The statements of receipts and expenditure of the various institutions under the jurisdiction of the Board for the year ending March 31st were read and approved.—lt was suggested that a uniform return be provided by each sub-committee, and this matter was referred to the Finance Committee, in the form of a recommendation. j A number of accounts which had come to hand since the meeting of the Finance Committee were passed for payment. *, The, estimates for the ensuing year were dealt with. The question of the issuing of tickets by the Masterton Hospital Committee was introduced, but discussion was postponed.
