GAPTAIN AMUNDSEN'S EXPEDITION

REASON.FOR HIS CHANGE OF PLANS.

STOCKHOLM, April 5

Captain Amundsen has written to the Committee of the Fram Expedition, apologising for not communicating to them his changed plans. His reason for secrecy was that he was apprehensive that the Committee would endeavour to dissuade him. The motive of the change was the hopo that the discovery of the South Pole would induce his countrymen to accord him sufficient financial support for a North Pole expedition. -
