DISTRICT NURSES.
Ths movement to appoint qualified District Nurses in the Wairarapa, whose services will be available to the poorer classes, is one which should commend itself to all who arc charitably disposed. The difficulty which will, of course, arise, will be tlie cost of their permanent maintenance. It would appear to be right and proper that the Wairarapa District Hospital' Board should have the control of such nurses; Diit it is just a question whether they should be made a'permanent charge upon the taxpayer. This is a matter entirely of policy. If the Board considers that District Nurses are required—and there should not be much difference of opinion on this point—it should have no compunction about finding the money for their payment.
