THE MINISTER OF WORKS.

Advantage should most certainly be taken by the Masterton Chamber of Commerce, of the visit to this district next week of the Minister forPublic Works, to bring under the notice of the Hon. R. McKenzie the claims of the Wairarapa in respect to railway matters. It is understood that the itinerary of the Minister is being arranged by Mr R. B. Ross, M.P., and that the claims of Pahiatua for railway connection with

Pongaroa will be strongly urged. Masterton cannot afford to be asleep when the distribution of public works votes are concerned, and it behoves the Chamber of Commerce and the member for the district to immediately bestir themselves.
