OXFORD DEFEATS CAMBRIDGE. IN RECORD TIME. Received Last Night, 5.5 o'clock.) LONDON, April i. The sixty-eighth University Boat Race between Oxford and Gambridge, ttliicb. was rowed to-day, resulted iii a wiu for Oxford.
Cambridge had the better of the start, and led for a short distance, but Oxford quickly overhauled them, and were leading by two lengths at Hammersmith.
The Cambridge team improved their position between Doves and Thorny-croft's, where only a length separated-the boats. The Oxonians forged ahead again, and passing Barnes' had three lengths to the good. • They held the advantage to the finish, winning by two and a half lengths in the record time of 18miiis. 29secs.
(The previous record was lSmins, 47sees., put up by Oxford in 1893 and Cambridge in 1900. Oxford has now won the race 97 timea and Cambridge 30. Ift 1877 the }\*ot? re, suited in a dead heat.)
