THE CENSUS.
The quinquennial census is to be taken to-morrow. The paper is to' be filled in with a list of members of the household or family, visitors,-! "servants and others who sleep in any 'dwelling on Sunday night, and the paper will b© called for on Monday, or as soon after as possible, by tne sub-enumerator. Any person wilfully, refusing or neglecting to fill up, sign, and deliver the schedule, or to answer the jiecessary inquiries, which the enumerator or sub-enum-erators are authorised to make, or furnishing false returns or answers, , or obstructing any person in the performance z~ any duty imposed on him by the Census and Statistics , Act, 1910, is liable to a penalty of i £2O. The information given wi_ be I treated as confidential, and any person divulging it is liable to a penalty of £2O. The r.-turus are not to be used for proof of age, as in connection with pensions or for any other purpose than the preparation of statistical tables.
