THE BOUNDARIES COMMISSION
It has been officially stated that the Boundaries Commission will be set up immediately the census returns are completed, which will be in the month of June. The work of the Commission will probably not be completed for at least two months. In some quarters public petitions are being prepared, for presentation to the Commission, praying that the present boundaries should be amended. 1 It need hardly be said that such attempts to influence the Commissioners in their work are highly improper. Whilst it is eminently desirable that only men possessed of a thorough knowledge of the conformation of the'country should be appointed to the Commission, it is equally important that no outside influence should be permitted to be brought to bear upon the Commissioner's.
