W.C.T.U. CONVENTION.
NEW PLYMOUTH, Last Night. The following resolutions were passed by the W.C.T.U. Convention: (1) That this Convention of the ' W.C.T.U. desires t<y express its feeling*"of gfief> and shame for the disgrace attaching to our nation in the attitude it has adopted towards the opium traffic in China, and in face of the" mighty effort made by the Chinese authorities .-in this matter iti , hopes that the JBritish,, statesmen , will make" no delay'in'ridding* oun ' . country of"this'disgrace.' R. Atkinson'; assistant corresponding secretary, Miss if\ Cameron. Mrs A. R. Atkinson is to represent the Union on the Executive of the N.Z. Alliance.
