MR MASSEY.
Whilst the Leader of the Opposition is to be commended for the aggressiveness he is displaying in political matters just now, one cannot (help remarking the absence of a defined policy which characterises his laddresses. It may be urged that whenever the Opposition discloses a policy the Government immediately appropriates it. That may be the case, up to a point. It is hardly likely, however, that in a short session, on the eve of an election, the Government would seize upon every progressive plank in the Opposition platform. Mr Massey has a splendid opportunity of formulating and canvassing a policy, and, if he fails to do so, the country can hardly be blamed for refusing to take him entirely on trust.
