BOY LABOUR.
At a representative meeting of the Balclutha branch of the Farmers' Union, it was unanimously decided to have nothing. ±o do with the Sedgwick or any other scheme of boy immigration. The general opinion was that, tlie farmer ordinarily j had enough to do to provide work j for his own boys, and th?t what was wanted was -. able-bodied the farm, not boy labour. The matter came up on the reading of a. letter from the provincial secretary re the proposed visit of Mr Sedgwick to Otago, wherein it was stated : that lectures would be given between the dates 24th Marcn and the 10th April, and that a visit to Balclutha could be'arranged if desired. Tlie however, \,v was v, /apparently '■■; unanimous in not desiring it. !
