FLOGGING OF PRISONERS
WARDERS SENT TO GAOL

ST. PETERSBURG. March 25,
Sixteen warders at Ekatrimburg hare been sentenced to terms of imprisonment varying from 2£ 3 T ears, for cruelty. Evidence was given by one hundred witnesses, sixty of whom had been victims of thrashings with knouts made of ox-tendons wrapped in strips of raw-hide. The ends were bound with iron wire.
