THE HARBOUR BOARD.
The statement presented to the Wellington Harbour Board on Wednesday ,by its chairman showed that, with the assistance of the new charges made by t-lie Board, there was a credit of £6218 on the last year' operation s. Had the incr ease in charges not been iiiadj, Mr Fletcher says there would Ir-vc been a ,deficit-of £1,798. '* The ,';l)<j!rtinipn" rightly "asks why such a deficit sliotild . have occurred', : when ' . tbzxfr was' a deficit of only £682 for- 'the bad year 1909-10. On the face of things, it would appear that the expenditure of the Board, has been in.creasing out of proportion to 'the revenue. When the new.. Board comes into existence, we may expect to see til© position straigthened out a good deal.
