IMPERIAL CONGRESS

CABLE NEWS

United Press Association — By E/ectric Telegraph—Copyright.

MRASQUITH SHOULD PRESIDE.

AN ACT OF COURTESY

(Received Last Night, 10.30 o'clock)

LONDON, March 20

The Times, in a .leading article, advocates that the Prime Minister, the Right Hon. H. H. Asquith, should preside at the Imperial Conference. This, it says, is due to men who have travelled thousands of miles and devoted months of work to the Conference. The status of the Conference, as the highest deliberative body in the Empire, would otherwise deteriorate, and the Prime Minister's dominions of the future would be less disposed to spend time and trouble,in attending the gathering.
