The willow nuisance is "becoming serious in some parts of the Masterton County. _ Sgme. of the settlers, mg the instructions of the County Council, are. removing the willows from streams, whilst others are allowing them to obstruct the water-courses. Cr Beetham drew attention to this matter at yesterday's meeting. Cr. Miller pointed out that some of the settlers had planted Willows to protect their-properties, and these had received notice to remove the willows. The chairman explained that all that the-Council desired was to prevent the obstruction-of the'water-courses. The Clerk stated that, unless the willows obstructed the free flow of ..the water no notice need be taken of the .Couneil's instruction. On.tlie motion of Cr. Toogood, seconded by Cr. Morris, it was decided that settlers .be required to remove the willow trees entirely from the bed and side of the Wangaehu River.
