Russell. the editor, during Mr T. Lindsay Buick's absence in the Old, Country. Mr John Fan-ell,-representing J. C. Williamson, Ltd., arrived in Masterton. last night to complete arrangements for the appearance . here on Thursday, March 16th, of Katherine Grey, in "The Lion and the Mouse.-' The death occurred at Stanwayy on Monday night, of Mr G.\C. Wheeler, the well-known sheep and cattle breeder. The deceased had been resident in the Halcompe district for over thirty years. He was one of the first settlers to purchase land from the Colonists' Land and Loan Corporation. He took a prominent part in the formation of the Manawatu A. and P. Association, arid in the publication of the New Zealand Breeders' Flock Book, and Hereford Stnd Book. He had been president of the Romney Marsh Breeders' Association, Hereford Cat-tle-breeders' Association, and the Manawatu A. and'P. Association. He was also a prominent member of the Farmers' Union, and an ardent Church worker.
