EFFECTS OF THE REFERENDA
CIVIL SERVANTS' RIGHTS
SYDNEY, March 7. Tli© Federal Postmaster-Genera]), (Mr Josiali Thomas) states that the Government is prepared 'to allow every Federal servant the right to go to the Arbitration Court if he so desires. "We don't want to force them if the referenda is carried," added Mr Thomas; "even State servants will have the power to approach the court." MELBOURNE, March 7. The Labour Party's; referenda manifesto, which was lost while on its way, to a typiste, -has been found. It makes an urgent appeal to the people to vote "Yes," <ind points out that the Commonwealth laws dealing with combines and! the new protection have been found to be unconstitutional. Unless th© people are content to be exploited without any at/tempt at retaliation, and to be ruled by trusts, the Constitution must, says the manifesto, be amended. The Federal Government does not intend fto intrude into the domain properly belonging to the States; there is absolutely no question of unification. The effect of the referenda would be to increase the self-governing powers of the electors.
