SOUTH AFRICA v. AUSTRALIA.
GOOD STAND BY SOUTH AFRICA

SYDNEY, March 6. The fifth and last test match between South Africa and Australia was continued to-day in hot weather, on a hard and fast wicket. South Africa, with one wicket down for 33, continued their second innings, and at the close of the day's play have lost six wickets for 368. Following are the scores:— AUSTRALIA. First Innings 384 SOUTH' AFRICA. Second Innings. Sherweli; b Armstrong 14 Zuleh, b Ransford 150 Pegler, c Cotter, b Hordern 26 Faulkner, b Cotter ; 92 Nourse, c Cotter, b Whitty 28 Strieker, b Cotter 42 Snooke, not out 2 Extras 14 Total for six wickets 368 Faulkner stands out prominently above all the other South Africans as a batsman. He has completed the unique record of having aggregated 100 runs in each of the five test matches. He compares favourably with-the best Australians. Although not so brilliant as Trumper, he is safer, and, except for his right hand style, he resembles Bardsley with the bat-. AUCKLAND v. HAWKE'S BAY.
