ANNUAL CONFERENCE. [By Telegraph—Press Association.']' ' AUCKLAND, Monday. The conference of the British Medical Association passed a resolution expressing the opinion that coercive measures dealing with venereal diseases, would, result m driving the victims into the hands of unqualified practitioners and magnify the evil. But the Association was prepai-ed to recommend tho compulsory notification of such diseases by numbers only, provided that no coercive measures were adopted by the Health. Department, unless in the opinion of the practitioners notifying the disease, such measures were necessary in the interests of public health. The Association recommended the adoption of a modification of the Prisoners Detention Act "in force in New South, Wales. •
