INDIAN ESTIMATES.
THE OPIUM TRADE. (Received Last Night, 10.50 o'clock.) LONDON, March 1. Lord Crewe has issued the revised Indian estimates for 1910 and 1911, showing the revenue to be £50,538,200 and the expenditure £77,048,900. He attributes the increase of £2,960,300 in the . opium revenue to the unprecedented prices obtained at Calcutta sales. The railway revenue shows an increase of £1,755,000. The Budget estimate for 1911 and 1912 shows a surplus of £743,800. A decrease of £3,130,500 is anticipated in the opium revenue, owing to the production of fewer chests.; and lower prices. '
