HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT
The Commerce and Tourists Division of the Department of Agriculture, Commerce and Tourists has received the following cablegram 1 from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, dated London, February 25th, 1911. (Note,—Quotations unless otherwise specified are average prices on spot): Mutton.—The market it quiet. There is a good demand for prime qualities, which are very scarce, but there is a dull sale for. heavy cai*cases of mutton, which are in large supply. Canterbury 4d, North Island 3fd per lb light weight, North Island 3sd per lb heavy weight. Lamb. —The market is weak and there is a dull sale for all lamb. Canterbury s§d, other than Canterbury 4|d, Australian 4d, Argentine 4d'per lb. ' Beef --The market is dull and there is no change in prices, viz. New ZeaI land fores 3Jd, hinds 3|d per lb. Butter.—The market is quiet, but rather steadier, for best qualities. Choicest New Zealand butter 106s, Australian 102s, Dannish 122s per cwt. Cheese.—The market is a shade weaker. White 56s 6d, coloured supplies are increasing, 58s per cwt. Hemp.—The market is dull, a,nd very little business doing. Large shipments are arriving. New Zealand good fair on spot per ton £l9 ss, fair grade £lB los, fair current Manila, £l9. Forward shipment—New Zealand good fair, £l9 10s. fair grade £lB los, fair current. Manilla £l9 10s. The ouifcmit. from Manila for the week was '23,000 bales. '* , , . -.' Cocksfoot Seed.—The market is .ouiet, but firm. Bright clean New Zealand seed, weighing 171b per bushel, 74s per cwt. * Wheat.-r-The market .is weak and inactive. New Zealand long-berried., wheat onospdt ex granary, per quarter of 4961b5, 335; short-berried, 32s 6d. • ',.- Oats. —The market is steady with 'an improved demand. New .Zealand oats, short spaiTowbills, on snot, ex eranary, per quarter of 3841b5. 19s; Danish, per quarter of 3201b, 16s 9d. Beans.—The market is 'steady but the demand only moderate. 'New- Zealand, f.a.q., old crop, per 5041b5, 355. . Peas.—The' market is rather quiet. New Zealand peas (partridge), per 5041b, 455. "Wool.—The market remains firm. AUCKLAND SHARE MARKET, Mr J. T.
