MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
MONTHLY MEETING
The monthly meeting of the Masterton Borough Council was held last evening, there being present:— His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. M. Coradine), and Crs. W. Morris, J. Prentice, J. C. Ewangton, W. Pragffleji, T. G. Hoar, F. W. Temple, and J. Elliott. : .
Accounts amounting to **£36B 8s wCre submitted and passed for payment. The account* in connection with the compensation case Lenz y. Borough of Masterton were ■ passedfor payment. An application was received from Jabez Bridges for permission to hold a meeting at. the Town Hall on a Sunday evening, at which Mr H. D. Bedford, M.A.,L.L.8., would deliver a lecture, and also asking permission to make a charge for the purpose of defraying . expenses. All profits would be handed over to the funds of the Mastetton Hospital.— The application was granted. The Masterton County Council wrote asking the Council to set aside a portion of tihe Borough reserve in order to enable the County Council to obtain gravel.—lt was de. cided to make ah arrangement similar to that made with the Ekeitahuna County Council. A petition was received from a number of Essex Street residents, asking the Council (to provide more lamps in their street.— The matter was left in tlie hands of the Gas Manager to report ~
