WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY.
Sir Joseph Ward, excuses his action in accepting the tender of a German syndicate for ..the supply of wireless telegraph apparatus on the plea that the German article is cheaper ;, and more adapted to the requirements of the country than that offered by t3ie British Marooni Company. On the question of the adaptability of the German apparatus, there is room for discussion. The British Admiralty , and. shipping companies appear to entertain quite a different view' of the matter. If it ioan be shown that the Marconi apparatus is vastly superior to the Telefunken—and Bri-, tish aitthorities assent that it can—• tfliere can he »o justification whatever for the action of the New Zealand Government. The v plea of economy will not hold good unless the conditions favour the foreign article.
