AFFAIRS AT THE ISLANDS.
AUCKLAND, Last Night. Interviewed by the Herald, King George of Tonga referred to the conditions prevailing in the islands : "Tiie commercial aspect," he-•;. said, "is very encouraging! The copra output last year has established>• a record, .-and this lias had a marked effect on the imports, which have also increased. We have spent a considerable sum of money in purchasing machinery for'developing the .country, but whether it will prove to be, a profitable undertaking for Tonga remains to be proved. The outlook at present is, very encouraging," added the King, "and if we are 'spared a hurricane, there, is every! pjqbabillty the present year will Wlipse all records both in export and import traded'
