CHRISTCHUROH, East Night. The Rev. Mr Walker's estimate of the drink bill of ■New Zealand is as follows. - " " Total. Per Head. 1910 £3,803,438 £3 13s l}d. 1009 £3.628,135 £3 lis o£dIncrease £175,303 2s Old. Mr Walker's! calculation is based oh the quantity of liquor passed through the Customs. H© says that the retail rates would bring the total to fully £5,000,000. . The bill per head dropped from £3 16s in 1885. ft £2 19s B£d in 1896, then it rose to £3 15s lOd in 1907, and dropped again in 1909 to £3 lis.
