ALLEGED CONNIVANCE AT ADULTERY.

CHBISTCHURCH DIVORCE CASE

By Telegranh — Fress Association.

CHRISTCHTJRCH, Last Night. In the divorce case Notmann v. Notraann and Brown, evidence was taken this, morning on the question of the husband's connivance at his wife's adultery, that point being raised by, the wife in defending the action. Hall, commercial traveller, said the petitioner had offered him £2OO or £3OO for incriminating evidence against his wife. Counsel for the petitioner contended that the evidence did not disclose actual connivance, either under the English or New Zealand law. . ,' The Judge said there was nothing in the evidence inconsistent with petitioner's belief in his wife's misconduct and his anxiety to obtain evidence,, He remembered no other case in which there had been such definite intercourse betweeil the petitioner and the co-respondent, both before and after the actual adultery. The case in that respect was unique, and it was im-. portant-in view of-the different view taken in New Zealand law from that taken in English law. He would take time to consider his decision.
