\ It is-quite dear, from the remarks of •Mr J. D. Henry, that the indications of: the existence of petroleum
in (the' country to. the east of Masterton axe sufficient to. justify an exhaustive geological survey being made by the Government. A sum of money has- been specially placed at the disposal of the Minister for Mines for prospecting purposes, and a portion of this should be available for prospecting for oil.
