THE RABBIT TRADE.
A COMBINE. (Received Last Night, 9.30 o'clock.) MELBOURNE, February 14. r A deputation assured the Minister of Agriculture that a strong combineexisted in the rabbit trade, which prevented independent" buyers from obtaining freezing space. The Minister, in reply, said he was determined that the workers' occupations would be assured. The Government would not hesitate to do what was necessary, even to the extent of hurriedly directing the freezing: works'to guarantee a fair field' to all legitimate traders. "No combines," he said, "shall monopolise the market in this country, and we will.not stop at either cost or drastic legislation,to stamp out any attempt at; a- combine similar to' those exist-, ing in America."
