SENSATIONAL RUNAWAY.
■ ■'■ •. tsrotghMsterton' v ;:;.-,V THQROUGHFA^S.I'^r : : : ;:.V :^ •■■• AKsensatiohal runaway occurred -in Masterton on Monday morning, lb' appears that a horse attached to a cart belonging to Mr Ahstice', baker, took fright while in the vicinity of the railway Sstation, and made off down Perry Street l towards .Chapel Street. ;The horse turned the corner into irChapel Street; and south tuitil it reached Renall Street. ' Apparently some person attempted to stop the runaway and caused the, horse, to swerve to one side and crash ititr the fence on the side of the street. The horse was so badly injured that it had to bo destroyed. En route from the station to Renall Street the thoroughfares were in places strewn with bread which had fallen from the'cart pn Recount of the door having been/shaken open. Several people narrowly escaped being knocked .down , and- at each corner the cart just missed telegraph poles. The cart was badly.damaged: ■ • , '".■;■' ■
