MASTERTON SHOW, 1911.
OPENING TO-MORROW.
The Masterton A. and P. Show, 1911, opens to-morrow on the Solway Showgrounds.
Visitors have already begun to arrive, and Saturday's trains brought, a considerable quantity of stock.
The official opening takes place on Wednesday (People's Day). His 'Excellency the Governor will plant a commemoration tree at 12.30.
Should the weather prove fine on Wednesday, numerous private pic-, nic partiea will. patronise the ground*. The Association is providing hot watar free of charge. :
Horses belonging to J. Hardiag (Waipukurau), J. Young '(Blenheim), H. B. Campbell (Havelock* North), and T. S. Percival (Mahoi-a) arrived on Saturday. f
There will be numerous side shows on the ground. Four or five have already arrived, and have pitch kI their tents.
The Shorthorn cattle of Mr : W,i' T. Williams, of Te Ante, arrived-' en Ssiturday, together with a; number < f Hawko's Bay and West Coast^heep.

Catalogues for the show will bo on sale to-day. They have been very carefully compiled. v "
Mr Sam Wood, of Napier, has consented to judge the wool-classing at the show.
The competitions to-morrow will lie a&lfollows: Trotting, walking, pony jumping (two), trotting in harness, maiden jumping and hunters' leaping. There are twenty-one entries for, the maiden jumping event, and thirty for the hunters' leaping competition.
'•.< ST.be homing pigeon match will be flown from Kaitoke on Wednesday. The birds are to be hampered to-mor-TO\r.
The charge for conveying passengers from Masterton to the, showground will be sixpence each iway. ,

Bell, of Blenheim. There will be 150 exhibits in this class, from such breeders as R. Tanner, P. Mungavin, H. A. Matthews, W. Perry, W 7 ': H Buick, Gray Bros., W. Gibson, McGregor Bros., W. B. Allen, and W. Rayner. The show of Southdowns 1 will be a good one. In this class there will lie over one hundred exhibitors. The breeders represented will include Messrs Nelson Bros., A. H. Rollo, Lilis Bros., S. R. Lancaster, A. J. Stone-Wigg, J. Enight, J. Strang, J./McGregor, and W. Rayner. In Shropshires the chief competitors will be Messrs P. Cooper, W. I Rayner, the Donald Estate, and J. ! C. McKillop. '.•■■■' I Farmers' classes will be representi ed, among others, by Mr W. E. C. Tylee, who was so successful at Pahiatua last week. In the freezing classes there will be kce"n competition. There are twenty-five competitors in the class for five lambs, and seventeen in the five-wether class. The fat sheep classes are well filled, there being fifty-eight exhibits. ■■ Shorthorn cattle have produced thirty-six. entries, including such breeders as Mr ~\Y. T. Williams, of Hawke's Bay. , In Herofords,-Mr F. G. Moore, of Kai Iwi,, will be among the exhibitors.
