Y.M.C.A. BOARD MEETING.
COMMENCING THE PHYSICAL WORK. The Y.M.C.A. Board of Management met last night after a somewhat lengthy recess,, and in spite of a very heavy programme finished its woi;lc in record time. Mr P. L. Rollings (the President of the Association) took the chair, and after opening the meeting spoke a word of welcome to the | Rev. A. T. Thompson, 8.A., 8.D., who had represented the local and the New Zealand -Y.M.C.A.'s at the World's Conference of Y.M.C.A.s in America. Amongst the correspondence 'was a communication asking the local secretary to arrange for the organisation of temporary Y.M.C.A. work in the various soldiers' crnips of tiie district, General Godley having promised to assist the Dominion Associations to this end. ' Several new n-embers were, admitted,accounts passed for payment, and several reports- from sub-committees received., A detailed account of finance in con- 1 nec.tion with the Extension Scheme I was put in by the Secretary, and the work of the Physical Department Committee also dealt with ;• the following recommendations being cqp-. ried out in full It was. agreed to carry on tlie Physical Culture ard Gymnastic: work amongst schoolboys and schoolgirls, jui.ior and senior members of the association, non-members and ladies. Two terms of thirteen weeks is being arranged for, the first term to open-on March 6th, enrolment to taka place in the interim. Mondays and Wednesdays from 7.30 to 9.30 p.m. are to be devoted to the male classes, junior and senior members, and non members alike. Friday is ladies' night. Tuesdays and Thursdays are to be open nights, when the male members of the classes can have their fling under sup-ervision-of the committee* whilst .Saturday'night is to.be devoted to the arranging of basket btdl -tournaments when matches wi'l be arranged against local football and hockey clubs. These matches will open for the public to witness, and the Association hopes to see its room crowded on the winter Saturday evenings. The following are the terms, which does n >t include Association mambtysliip : —-Members, schoolboys, 4s. 1/ and under, 6s ; 18 and over. is 6d; non-members, schoolboys, 6s, 7s 6d, and IDs 6d respectively. Schoolgirls, os, and ladies 7s 6d j.er term t f 13 weeks. - It will be noticed with interest by the Masterton public that the fees have reduced by just about half. This will popularise the institution, and the fact that the classes are open to all people* young,. old, member; ana - non-member alike 'ought to All * the 'furnishings are now to hand; London and; Liverpool, and' a 'committee of young men intend getting to work on Monday evening with the erection of the apparatus. Permission ..was. given to Mi- Snowball to make a Y.M.C.A. exhibit and writing bureau at the forthcoming show, and it was decided to convey to Mr D. B. Thomson, one of the members, of the Board, that body's sympathy with him in., his illness. ■
