Messrs Barlow Bros, have bought the Acumen colt, Genius, the price mentioned being .'£6oo. Genius is now to be trained by R; O'Donnell, trainer of Los Angelos and Formless.
The well-known performer, toe, broke a leg 'while exercising on the Hawera course .last week, and had to be destroyed. . The lease term of Epsom Downs being completed, the horse has* been returned to his owner by H. C. MePhee. The Canterbury sportsmen are looking forward to a meeting between Cxilprit and Antagonist. ■'■ The latter won the Middle Park- Plate last week, and is by Soult—Miss Annie. Weights for the Wanganui Cup and Flying Handicaps are due on Saturday. During the past month .wins have been scored by Medallist, Lady Medallist, and Little Medallist. Hinini, winner of two races at the Gisborne meeting, is by San Rem o Tauhei, and is therefore a half-sister to that good performer, "Iraiiui. v. Hill continued her run of successes .by winning -the. Hawera Stakes at the Egmont meeting yesterday. The Napier Park Racing Club will hold its autumn meeting on March loth and 16th. The sum of £1630 will be given in stakes, the principal events being the Napier Cup of £3OO and the Close Memorial ci £l5O.
