A PLEASANT FUNCTION.
TE WHARAU LADY HONOURED
/ The Te Wharau correspondent of j the Wairarapa Age writes : —_ A very pleasant function took place here on. > Saturday evening, when a largo nuini ber of settlers assenibied in the I schoolhouse to bid farewell to Mrs | Nicolson and family, who are short- > ly to leave the district. Mr. McGregor, of ''Hikorangi," occupied the chair, and in a happy speech lie referred to Mrs Nicolson's long.stay I in this district, and the, great esteem in which she and lier family were held in the district, and concluded his remarks by wishing them every success in their new sphere, wherever it might bo. Mr McGregor \ then presented Mrs N'icolson with a " beautifully engraved silver tea. service, and Miss Nicolson with; a handsome silver toilet set. Mr V. Richards- responded on behalf of Mrs and Miss Nicolson, and, in a few.well chosen j; words . expressed Mrs Nicolson's regret at leaving the district in which she had spent so many happy years. A memorable evening , was concluded by the large gathering giving three hearty cheers, for Mrs * Nicolson and family.
