THE GOVERNOR'S VISIT.
RECEPTION BY A. AND P. ASSOCIATION. At the meeting' of the Committee of the Masterton A. and P. Association on, Saturday last, the following sub-committee was set up to receive His" Excellency the Governor (Lord Islington) on the occasion of his visit to the show:— Mr and Mrs W. E. Bidwill, Mr and Mrs W. H. Beetham, the Mayor and Mayoress, and the officials of the Association.
The President stated that a sep : arate apartment had been screened off for His Excellency and party, so that there would be no interference with the Stewards' luncheon.
It was reported that Mr Hale had a tree in readiness for planting at -the show, and it was suggested \that His .Excellency be asked to plant it.
Mr 0. C. Cooper moved that the Building . Committee be empowered ,to make such arrangements as they may think fit.' He thought that any ceremony held should' be of a brief nature, as he believed His Excellency would appreciate this. Mr D. McGregor, junr., said that ■he, for one, would very much like to hear a speech from His Excellency, who took a very keen interest in agricultural matters. It was eventually decided* en the motion of Mr Welch, tliat the Building Committee, with Messrs 0. C.Cooper, G. C. Summerell, and A. G. Pilmer, make the necessary ; arrangements for an official opening.
