Five cases :n which natives have criminally assaulted, or attempted to indecently assault white women have beeu reported from Witwatersrand alone during the past few days. The public is incensed, and the Judges have been urged to inflict the utmost penalty of the law in all cases. The worst cast- recently reported was committed in broad daylight, when the criminal escaped after violating and attempting to murder a lady teacher who was cycling to her home.'
