DEATHS OF MASTERTON NATIVES.
, OCCURRENCE. About three weeks, ago Mrs Rein Paku, a well-known .Native of Masterton, 'gave' birth to a child, and heivdeath ai; Pahiatrua on Wednesday was the sad sequel. To the grief of the whole Native community it was learned yesterday that Mr Paku, who went" to PahfaTua, had also died only a few hours after he had learned of the death of his wife. Both Mr and Mrs Paku were among the most popular of the Maoris in the Masterton district, and the whole of the Natives in the vWairarapa have sustained a severe bereavement in their death. Three children are left, one being the.child recently born. The bodies will be brought to Masterton, and a large tangi will be held to-day. The cause of Mr Rehi Paku's death is hot yet known.
