Lord Methuen, speaking at a banquet, dealt with the advisability of the Soutli African army being able to free the Imperial garrison and go anywhere when required. He was convinced tnat South Africa was ready to help the Motherland in the case of need. He remarked that the Capo Mounted Hides nucleus might be increased, and eulogised the cadet corps.
