Mr John Drummond, formerly of the Stock Department, is at present a visitor to Masterton. - It is now definitely announced that His Excellency the Governor and suite will' be present at the;Masterton A. and P. Association's show r.cxt month.
A cable received last night stated that-Madame Melba had returned to London, having recovered from her illness.

A Press Association message states that the Prime Minister addressed a big meeting at New Plymouth last night. He traversed the same ground as at Stratford, only that he referred to the oil industry of New Plymouth and the improvement to the harbour.
The Ven. Archdeacon Fancourt paid a. brief visit to Masterton yesterday. He is just returning from a fortnight's holiday, and has benefited considerably by the rest, which was all too brief. The Archdeacon left for Wellington by the afternoon train yesterday. , The death occurred early yesterday morning of a well-known Masterton resident in the person of Mr William Donaldson, at the age of 73 years. Deceased came to the Dominion 26 years, ago, and lived in Christchurch dnd Dunedin for some years where lie was in business. He came to Masterton seven years ago, and took over the land and commission agency business of Mr Dalrymple. The late Mr Donaldson also kept a store at Kuripuni. Miss Katie Donaldson, of Rakaia, Christchurch, who is now in Masterton, is the only surviving member of Mr Donaldson's family. The deceased gentleman had been ailing for some considerable time. He was a prominent member of the Masterton Methodist; -Church,, and was- a teacher in the .Sunday School for several years past. Mr W. Y. Tresseder, who has resigned the position of head preserver of the Wellington Meat Export Coy., to take up a similar position at the Wellington Farmers' Meat Company':; Works at' Waingawa, was oil Wednesday the recipient of several valuable presentations, from the employees of his own department, which included a case of Loowe pipes, and a handsome hand satchete for Mrs Tresseder, and from the staff a, silver tea and coffee service, a case of Lpewe pipes, and a, tobacco pouch 1 . Mr Simpson made the presentation on behalf of the employees, and Mr W. Cox on behalf of the staff. Both wished Mr Tresseder a prosperous career with the new company.
