"LIBERAL" OR "LABOUR."
During the last few weeks half-a-dozen or more prominent-politicians of the Commonwealth have, visited New Zealand t to gather information concerning the legislation of this country. They have all' returned to their homes filled with delight at the progressive character of • our laws. The point for discussion on the other side is. as to whether our "beneficent'' legislation is to be attributed "to. "Liberalism" or "Lab- - ouxism." Mr G .C. Wade. attributes it to the former, arid Mr Beeby to the latter. Meanwhile, it is in--teresting'To note that Mr A. W. Hogg, ex-Minister for Labour in the New Zealand Parliament, thinks the Commonwealth has reached a much more advanced stage in politics than has the Dominion. He dofes >not regard ■ the Government of New Zealand at the present time as worthy of the name of either "Liberal," "Labour," or "Democratic."
