THE MASTERTON SHOW.
FURTHER SHEEP CLASSES.' ■ Although, Romney and .Lincoln sheep will-figure .-prominently at the important show to be held on the Masterton A. and P. Association's new showgrounds on February 14th and 15th, it is not alone in these sheep classes that there will be keen ..competition. ...In English Leicesters, the Lister Sheep-shearing Machines' Company's silver cup, which was won last year by Messrs Slack Bros - .* of Manawatu, will again be competed for.. The New Zealand Sheepbreeders' Association offers a shield for the champion ram in Border Leicesters, whilst in Southdowns a cash prize' of £lO is offered by Mr James Stuckey for- -the best ram ,under 21 months. The competition in this class is likely to be stronger than eyer. There are ten classes for Shropshires, for which a gold and! silver medal are offered, -imd thtve are one or two local breeders who •challenge the Dominion. Six classes are provided for; farmers in.long-wool crosses, and a,, silver cup, valued at £2O, is offered for the most points scored in the freezing classes. - Freezers and iut sheep are ' sure to be strongly in evidence at the ishow. It may be mentioned that the Masterton A. and P. Association has made a distinctly forward move by the provision of pavilions for the exhibition of sheep. This is an innovation which will doubtless be appre-. ciated by breeders. Exhibitors should remember that entries close with the secretary on Saturday next, January 28th; Catalogues and forms of entry 'may be obtained at the I office of this paper.
