Mr T.-Shields, of Wellington, arrived in Mns'torton last evening. The Hon. G. Fowlds, Minister for Education, returned to Auckland yesterday by the Mantua. Mr J. J. Loma.s, late of Masterton, has been appointed manager of the Balmerston North branch of the New Zealand Clothing Factory. Misses Xunnelly, Travers, Brewster, and Wellwood, and Messrs F. M. B. Fisher; Brown and Parker, arrived in Masterton last night for the tennis •tournament to-day. 1 'Among, the visiting tennis, players who arrived in Masterton last' night were Mr and Mrs Hartgill, and Messrs C. C. Cox and Soundy, of Dannevirke. Mr G. L. Petersen, advance agent of Wirtli's Circus, was in Masterton yesterday, making arrangements for the appearance of the circus here on Saturday, February 4th.
