The late Mrs Deans was the eldest daughter of Mr James Mcllraith, of Auchenflower, Ayrshire. She was married in Septemper, 1852, and with her husband arrived in Lyttelton in ' the Minerva, on February 2nd, 1853. She shared the privations and hardships of the pioneer days, and to the last preserved her faculties.
