LUST FOR ADVERTISEMENT.
There is a distinct lust for advertisement about most of the Provinces of the Dominion just now. Auckland claims that the sun shines only on "One Tree Hill"; Tarariaki never had a better butter-test or a brighter prospect of striking oil since Te Whiti was captured; Poverty Bay is advancing so rapidly that its name will soon have to be altered; Hawke's Bay is spreading its wings to fly; Canterbury is booming big guns; South Canterbury is building breakwaters and castles in the air; Otago has taken to wearing green goggles with its kilts; Southland is as fresh and as succulent as a Bluif oyster; and Wellington is suffering a recov- ; ery. Everybody and everything is : getting along nicely. The finances . a*re buoyant (apologies to Sir Jos- !. eph!); '. iie five million loan is assured; :'.ie. railways ate paying for '■ and running as smoothly > and as. quickly as ,they~ea-»;-ther is'wiirm, and political speeches are seldom delivered I
